Notice
Effective July 1, 2011, the state-mandated countywide Centralized Eligibility List (CEL) for Alameda County will cease to operate. This decision came as a result of the proposed elimination by the State Administration to eliminate Fiscal Year 2011-12 funding for county Centralized Eligibility Lists (CELs).
As a result, programs that receive funding from the State to operate subsidized child care programs have the option to create their own waiting list. In order to qualify for child care, parents will now have to apply at each individual program - there will no longer be one, countywide list. If you have already applied for subsidized child care or preschool and are currently on the Centralized Eligibility List, your information will be shared with other subsidized programs in the county that you are eligible for. You will receive notification from any and all programs that place you on their waiting list. Please contact those agencies to update any of your information. Contact your local Resource and Referral agency to obtain a list of subsidized child care and development programs in your area.
As the CEL Administrator, I am aware that the elimination of the CEL will create hardship for many families.
If you have any questions about the information provided in this notice, please call us at 510-658-7353.
Sincerely,
Centralized Eligibility Department
